2030 A.D.
In a world where all must obey the giant talking alligator zombie king, one man is ready to break the rules: Brick Sharpton. And the first rule this young LA cop with a chip on his shoulder is going to break is the most dangerous rule of all: don't shoot the zombie alligator king in the back of the neck with a shotgun. And the second rule he's going to break may be even more dangerous than that: don't fall in love. And the third rule he's going to break is the most dangerous rule of all: don't cheat on your wife when she's the drugged out voodoo priestess that brought the dead talking giant alligator back to what can barely be called "life" in the first place. Brick's in a race to the finish: man versus monster and life versus death. Only one man knows if Brick has the guts to get the ancient voodoo killing dagger and take out his enemies once and for all: Brick himself, and he's not telling nobody.

What if the Brick Sharpton part didn't come until the end and most of the movie was the giant talking alligator zombie king's origin story. You say the movie takes place in the year 2030, so potentially, the alligator that beings the giant talking alligator zombie king could be alive right now. What's great about it is that it would be like four origin stories in one. You'd tell the story about how he got so big, the story about how he learned how to talk, the story about how he became a zombie, and also the story of how he became a king (though not necessarily in that order).
As a side note, you mentioned that Brick has a chip on his shoulder. Is that why he'd try to murder the king? Maybe go into a little more detail on that. And finally, yes, love is in fact very dangerous, though many don't see it as such. It can take the strongest man, the most hardened criminal, and it can bring him to his knees. I like that you're recognizing that. All in all - solid screenplay. Just maybe explore how the giant talking alligator zombie king came to be, and the struggles he had to go through to protect all of the people of the world.
Good idea about the giant talking alligator zombie king backstory-- I considered that myself but for some reason didn't consider it a viable option until I read your comment.
Real quick here's what we'd see as audience members
SCENE: A bear hunter visiting the zoo falls into the alligator pit when he is pushed. The alligators have just been fed, but the smell of some camping pornography the Bear Hunter has forgotten in his cargo shorts proves too much for the alligators to resist, and the bear hunter is forced to kill them all with his bowie knife, stabbing them again and again and again (approximately 12 minutes screen time) in the back of the head until all of them are dead. He gets out and is never seen in the movie again until his cameo as the chef in the sequel. But little did he know that actually one of the alligators was the king of all alligators, Mooshy-Pooshy. In a flashback we see that alligator in the alligator jungle being brought delicious free chickens by other alligators, but at that moment he is caught by an alligator zoo bounty hunter. Flash forward to a janitor dumping his body into the dumpster outside the zoo, where he lands on a mysterious glowing green ooze. Flashback to two men in secret service suits dumping the green ooze in the zoo dumpster. "No one will suspect that we have dumped the radioactive human speech ooze here, in the zoo dumpster." Flashforward to the dumpster getting dumped at the dump, then pan over where a drugged out voodoo priestess is trying to sell her radiator for scrap. They won't take it and she gets mad and say she'll reanimate something to get revenge! Then she sees the alligator and nods. Flash forward to the zombie alligator king kicking down the door of a scientist lab: "You!" he says to a scientist. "You're working on the giantization formula X. And if you don't make me a giant I'm gonna bite your legs off!" Flashforward again to the alligator, now giant, stepping on the inauguration ceremony of the 2028 presidential election and declaring "I am now your king! All must obey me!" then several flashes forward to the giant talking alligator zombie king doing the same thing at several other presidential inauguration ceremonies, notably Japan's, Russia's, and the Vaticans.
Then cut to Brick Sharpton in his gritty police car. He drives by a giant picture of the giant talking alligator zombie king that says "All must Obey" and then he takes a swig of vodka right from the bottle. "Man!" he says.
Thanks for your support, Nick. I hope this little preface to Voodoom 2030 makes the whole thing work a little better you. It sure did for me!
